These sophisticated laboratories created and maintained over the years in ICMR can also be effectively and optimally utilized for scientific research and academic growth of the country in the health research sector. The initiative to share and efficiently utilize these research laboratories, generated through public funds, with researchers across the country, will foster health research by ensuring quality research outcomes and facilitating innovative research endeavors.
The I-RISE policy and portal have been established with the purpose of providing a structured overview for utilizing the research facilities in ICMR laboratories for research and development purposes. These ICMR-Research Infrastructure Sharing Ecosystem (I-RISE) facilities, including high-tech infrastructure in Tier II cities, can be utilized by researchers from medical colleges, universities, other institutions, startups, and MSME industries.
The overall purpose is to facilitate and encourage biomedical research in India. This initiative aims to support the research and development of health technologies, ultimately enhancing the health of citizens. Additionally, it aligns with the 'Make in India' mission by focusing on the development of diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines within the country.
